Quilty Meets McCall's Laura Ashley 8358

This outfit is one of my favourite combinations to date.

I had seen a lot of love for the original McCall’s Laura Ashley pattern so when it was released again I knew I had to try it. It’s delicate and sweet, which I don’t usually do, so I knew I needed to bring in something to make it feel more me. I wanted to ensure I would actually wear it and not reserve it for a special occasion (something I tend to do with the softer silhouettes). Enter the ‘Quilty’ print from Ellie Whittaker Studio. This delicious print is reminiscent of old quilts that you find in Op shops but with a modern twist. The peach background had me swooning and with all those colours in the in quilt design I knew this was the one.

The only issue I ran into was find the right trim to match this beautiful peach. Would you believe I eyeballed it with my leftover Rit Dyes and match it up almost perfectly. I’m going to completely chalk this up to the sewing Gods because I’ve never nailed a colour like that before.

So what do you think? Do you think I successfully brought this older pattern to the 2020’s?
