The Otis Overalls

Another day, another jumpsuit. This really should be my mantra. I honestly love jumpsuits so much. I know that I’m usually dressed obsessed, but I can’t help but feel that a good jumpsuit is a key wardrobe ingredient.

Today I’ll be briefly chatting about the new pattern from Sew Liberated in collaboration with designer Debra Weiss of Specks and Keepings: The Otis Overalls. The design elements truly take this from just another jumpsuit to a serious contender for everyday wear for everyone, no matter your body type. It’s modern utility at it’s finest with lantern hems, drop crotch and lots of pockets!

Now I’m not going to mince my words here. This pattern is legitimately fabulous if you’ve struggled with a curvier figure on the bottom half of your body. It uses a drawstring to adjust the back giving you ample room for all the junk in your trunk. Something I don’t get very often from the big 4 sewing companies. Did I also mention the finishes of this pattern? It’s all clean finishes inside with french seams which is really incredible; you could literally wear it inside out and no one would notice!

My favourite part about this pattern is definitely the fit. I’ve got the 3 B’s: big bust, broad back and big butt. So if all my 3 b’s are taken care of then it’s really a great pattern. The straps are crossed over at the back so it can be a little bit of a wiggle to get in, but that could also just be me trying to get dressed with two screaming kids under 5 asking me for things. Who knows?
